Select a library material from the search results to display its bibliographic record.
Thumbnail/Material format icon (1-a)
Displays a thumbnail of materials that are included in the NDL Digital Collections. Otherwise, displays a material format icon.
Bibliographic record (ID, etc.) (1-b)
Displays the NDL Call Number, the Call Number of the same material in another format, the NDL Bibliographic ID, and the Persistent ID. Click the Details (1-e) link to display additional information.
Bibliographic record (1-c)
Displays the following information: the title of the material, the series in which the material is included, the title of the periodical, the volume or date of publication, the number of pages, the material type or collection in which the material is included, the author, the scale (for maps), the publisher, the year of publication, the university that conferred the degree and degree type (for doctoral dissertations), the material format, the size and duration, the dates of publication, the source, related material, preceding periodical, succeeding periodical, and availability. Click the Details (1-e) link to display additional information.
Notes on the use of material (1-d)
Displays additional information on the material, such as information about digitization.

Click this link to see additional information from the bibliographic records.
The content of the material, the table of contents, and other information are shown under the location in which the material is held. Please see section 4-4 Additional Information for more information.

Digital button (1-g)
A Digital button and a description of accessibility are shown for materials that are included in the NDL Digital Collections.
Click the Digital button to view the material in the NDL Digital Collections.
Article Research Service button (1-h)
Registered users who log in to the NDL Online will see an Article Research Service button displayed in the bibliographic record.
Click the Article Research Service button to display the request form. Fill in the necessary information and add your request to your Cart.
See section 6A-5 Article Research Service for information on materials for which this service is available and how to make a request.
Bibliographic link (1-i)
The following links are displayed.
| View indexed issue list | This link is displayed for periodicals included in the Japanese Periodicals Index. Click the link to display a list of the indexed issues. |
| To bibliographic record of periodical | This link is displayed for individual issues of a periodical. Click the link to display the bibliographic record for the entire periodical. |
| To bibliographic record of issue | This link is displayed for individual articles from a periodical. Click the link to display the bibliographic record for the issue of the periodical that contains the article. |
| To bibliographic records of digitized materials | This link is displayed for individual articles from a digitized material. Click the link to display the bibliographic record for the digitized material. |
Page navigation (2-a)
Click the arrow button to display either the next or the previous page. Or click the page number to display that page.
Refine (2-b)
Refine the list by specifying a year, volume, or location.
Holdings (2-c)
Displays the location within the NDL in which a library material is held or links to materials in the NDL Digital Collections, up to 20 materials per page. See section 4-3 Holdings Information for more information.
Add to Cart button (2-d)
Selecting a material in the Holdings list will display this button. Click to add a request for the material to your Cart.
Available buttons will differ per depending on type of user and condition of the material.
See sections 6A. Individual User Requests or 6B. Institutional User Requests for more information.
- Registered Individual User
The following buttons are displayed.

| Remote photoduplication | Display the remote photoduplication request form. Fill in each field and add your request to your cart. |
| Reservation for browsing | This button is only displayed for materials held at the Kansai-kan. You can add the selected material to your cart. |
- Registered Institutional User
The following buttons are displayed.

| Loan via mail | Add the selected material to your cart. |
| Remote photoduplication | Display the remote photoduplication request form. Fill in each field and add your request to your cart. |
Caution icon (3-a)
The Caution icon is displayed when a material is in use, under revision, at the bindery, or otherwise unavailable.
Description (3-b)
Displays Vol./No./Year of issue or other information.
Note (3-c)
Displays availability or information on the material.

Location (3-d)
Displays the location of the material.
Barcode (3-e)
Displays the barcode number of the material.
Local call No. (3-f)
Displays a call number that indicates the location where the material is held.
Bibliographic record of the NDL Digital Collections (3-g)
Displays the bibliographic record of material in the NDL Digital Collections. Click the title to display the bibliographic record screen.
Digital link (3-h)
Displays a button linked to the NDL Digital Collections.
Click the button to display content from the NDL Digital Collections.
* When the item is labeled "一覧に表示されない資料を所蔵しています"
If there are materials that do not appear in the list but are available at the NDL, a "一覧に表示されない資料を所蔵しています" message will be displayed.
When the volume you want does not appear in the list, select this material and click the button next to the cart icon.
Displays the request input form. Fill in the specific Vol./No./Year and add your request to your cart.
* When the item is labeled Digital
The Digital label is displayed when the material comprises digital content that is available for remote photoduplication.
To request photocopies, select this material and click the button next to the cart icon.
The form where you can input your request is displayed. Fill in each field and add your request to your cart.
The articles in this material, contents, table of contents, table of contents (Research Navi), and summary/abstract are shown below the holdings information.

A list of available volumes is displayed initially. Select a volume to display the table of contents for that volume.
- If the material does not have a hierarchical structure
Up to 100 items from the table of contents are displayed initially.
If the number of available items exceeds 100, click the Show All Contents link at the bottom right you to view all items.
Summary/abstract
A summary or abstract for the material is displayed, if available.
